Providing a safe haven for compassionate connection and personalised growth
Providing a safe haven for compassionate connection and personalised growth
At Willow Family, we are dedicated to providing safe, therapy-led residential care for children aged 13-18 years. We believe in fostering compassionate connections with children as well as the team as a whole and facilitiating personal growth.
We prioritise warm, trusting relationships as the foundation of healing. Healthy connections regulate, protect, and empower. At Willow Family Care, we foster a sense of belonging for both children and staff- where every individual feels heard and valued.
We create safe, responsive environments where emotional needs are met with compassion and care. Safeguarding the children within our care is our utmost priority. Through Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (PACE), we offer atuned support that allows children to feel safe enough to regulate, express and explore.
We believe that every child can heal, learn and flourish, given the right environment and support network around them. Grounded in neurodevelopmental principles, we support each individuals journey at their own pace with their specific goals. We celebrate progress, foster resilience and integrity, and champion their unique potential.
Chestnut Lodge is our first residential home and provides a safe, nurturing environment for up to three children aged 13-18 years old, with behavioural and/or emotional difficulties. We provide therepy-led care in a normal residential setting.
Elm Lodge is a large 1930s home beautifully renovated to create a spacious therapy-led residential home for up to four children aged 13-18 years old. It is close to the seafront and parks and has a large outside space for children and staff to enjoy!
Building on the success of our first two homes, we plan to expand our services across the West Sussex region and seek a third suitable property, enabling us to offer a greater provision of care to a wider community.
We welcome staff and children from all backgrounds, working to enable them to participate, contribute, and succeed. We believe in honest, open communication, building resilience, and having integrity. We strive to truly understand and value each indivual child and staff member.
At Willow Family Care, through our experience in both education and NHS healthcare, we realised there was a massive need for safe, nurturing residential home placements. Homes that went above and beyond to provide therapy-led care, and give children the opportunity to grow, thrive, form relationships, get to know themselves and develop their skills and confidence, safe in the knowledge they have a safe, welcoming and nurturing home, where they matter. We were tired of seeing children's homes run by those without the relevant skills or experience, focusing on the business, rather than putting the child front and centre. This was where Willow Family Care was born.
Our mission is to provide a compassionate and nurturing haven for children who have endured trauma or neglect. We are dedicated to empowering these resilient young people, enabling them to embrace the joys of childhood while equipping them with the tools and opportunities essential for realising their fullest potential. Our goal is to ensure that every child under our care has access to the finest education, diverse work experiences, and unwavering support, mirroring the life chances and aspirations of any child, regardless of their circumstances. We aim to instil in them the belief that their past does not dictate their future and that they can dream, achieve, and excel in all facets of life.
The road to setting up Willow Family Care and our first home, Chestnut Lodge, has not been easy. The three directors of Willow Family Care are all busy professionals, with families and children of their own. Unlike massive children's home corporations, we had a limited budget and limited time, working to create Willow Family Care alongside our day jobs. It has taken 18 months; navigating finding and renting properties that are suitable and secure, gaining planning consents, creating policies and documents and securing staff. We never gave up, despite the unforeseen challenges and hurdles that faced us. We hope this resilience will inspire our team, and also the children in our care, as we move forward. We are excited to launch in Autumn 2025.
Offer specialist residential care for children aged 13-18 years who have experienced trauma, neglect, abuse, or face emotional or mental health difficulties. Our approach is grounded in attachment theory and the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy), creating a warm and understanding environment where children feel safe, valued, and supported. With a dedicated team of professionals we provide care that promotes emotional healing, stability, and personal growth. Our homes are thoughtfully designed to feel like a family setting, helping children rebuild trust, develop healthy attachments, and regain a sense of security and identity.
At Willow Family Care, no two children are the same, which is why every child receives an individualised plan tailored to their unique needs, background, and goals. Our support spans emotional and behavioural development, mental health care, special educational needs and structured preparation for adulthood. We provide access to education, mentoring, life skills coaching, and daily routines that help build resilience, responsibility, and confidence. Children learn practical skills, from managing emotions and maintaining healthy routines, to financial literacy, digital safety, and job readiness, empowering them to thrive now and far on into the future. All of this is done with the child at the forefront.
We believe that meaningful progress happens through connection. We work closely with families, local authorities, education providers and health professionals, to ensure a joined-up, child-focused approach. This partnership model allows us to provide holistic care and seamless support, from the moment a child arrives through to their eventual transition to independence. Our team prioritises open communication, regular reviews, and proactive planning to ensure every child’s evolving needs are met. Through these partnerships, we also create opportunities for community engagement and vocational experiences, helping children build a sense of belonging, identity, and hope for the future.
